Elaine P. Fort, age 67, currently of Toledo, passed away Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at Ebeid Hospice. She was born December 17th, 1952 in Cape May, New Jersey to Ellis and Jessie (Mainor) Byrd. Elaine's family moved to Ohio when she was young. She grew up in Kenton Ohio, attending and graduating from Kenton High. Shortly after high school, she moved to Toledo and that's where she met and married her husband Irvin Milton Fort in 1973. Elaine began working at Brookhaven Convalescent Center in 1984 and continued to care for the residents there for 32 years until she retired in 2015.
Elaine was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She treasured the time she spent with her family, especially doting on her grand-babies. She was a special person, always putting others before herself. Her children loved her dearly and feel blessed that she was their Mom. Elaine will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was also preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Fort. She is survived by her daughters, Corretta Winters and Melinda (Keith) Fort; sons, Erving Fort and Aaron Fort; grandchildren, Angel, Taquiel, Kenneth, Ronald, Monica, Romael, Malaya and Racaris; great-grandchilden, Josiah, Jada and Breille and niece, Deborah and cousin April. Also cherishing her memory are her dearest friends, Billie Jean Bottley, Rose Burton, Willet Hill, Hattie Williams, Marlean Williams, Carol Baker, Trina Burton, Niecy, Margaret Campbell, Pastor Otis Jones and all her friends at Pelham Manor, as well as her special friend, Lloyd Whittle.
