Steve "Hunky Steve" Horvath, age 78, of Walbridge, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 12, 1940 in Babot, Hungary. Steve worked for the Iron Workers Local 55 for many years before retiring. He was a woodworker, an inventor and had two patents. Steve loved riding his motorcycle and being with friends and family. He was an avid car enthusiast. Steve enjoyed helping people, and never met a stranger. He was a friend of Bill W. for 33 years. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jonas Horvath; and cousin, Helen Pocza. Steve is survived by his loving companion of 7 years, Marilyn Shaffer; her children, Theresa and Douglas (Lori) Shaffer; grandchildren, Jacob, Sydney, Kennedy, and Chloe; sister, Mariska Horvath; sister-in-law, Vera Horvath; cousins, Arpi, Zoli and Frank Pocza; 5 nieces & nephews and a host of many loving friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
