Karen L. "Cookie" Irwin, age 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the University of Toledo Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 9, 1949 to Walter and R. Maxine (Schall) Lynch in Toledo. Karen was an executive secretary for Jobst Institute and surgical desk secretary for the Toledo Hospital before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting, especially hats and blankets. Karen liked cooking and making her famous fudge at Christmas time. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Herb Irwin, Sr.; sons, Tom (Joe), Herb Jr. (Tara) and Carl (Amber) Irwin; grandchildren, Herbie "HD3", Dempsey, Dawson, Madeline, Isabella and Lilliana; brother, Dale (Lisa) Lynch; lifelong best friend, Mary Ellen Austin; sisters-in-law, Bev Montie and Joyce Wharton; aunt, Bonnie (Frank) Reynolds; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Wilfred and Ruth Irwin; sister-in-law, Peggy Galdeen; and brothers-in-law, Tommy and Larry Irwin.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
