Robert J. "Bob" Strick, age 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1929 to George and Helen Rose (Majoros) Strick in Toledo. Bob was a graduate of Benedictine High School in Cleveland, Ohio Class of 1947. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and actively served as the Commander of the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corps for several years. Bob retired from L.O.F. after 30 years of service and in his retirement he had several part-time jobs to keep him busy, including a courier for Pathology Laboratories. After retirement he enjoyed years of traveling with his wife, Marie and spending time with his family. Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, joke-telling, being a dedicated Tiger's fan and enjoying a good crossword puzzle.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, David (Cinda) Strick, Susan (David) Hertz and Sara (Jimmie) McCoy; grandchildren, Andrew Strick and Elizabeth Hertz; sister, Marianne Hollo and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Nieset) Strick and three brothers, George, James and William Strick.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 2-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Vigil Service starting at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Jimmie McCoy officiating. His Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Toledo Memorial Park - Chapel of Peace, with Military Honors to follow. Friends are invited to join the family at the front gates of the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday for the Graveside Service.
