Kenneth L Veley

September 24, 2001 — June 11, 2018

Kenneth Louis Lockett Veley was born on September 24, 2001 to Lakeyta Lockett and Charles Veley.

On June 11, 2018, Kenny lost his life because of a senseless act of gun violence. Kenny was a freshman at Scott High School. While he was in class, he would text his girlfriend Meisha; or he would skip class just so he could eat lunch with her. He truly cared about her.

Kenny was funny and he was always cracking jokes and laughing. He loved to listen to music while rapping and dancing at the same time. He loved to look good from head to toe. This meant he had to get that special haircut from his dad. Even though he loved to look good, he could never keep his room clean. Kenny had charisma and he was smart.
When he was about 10 years old he picked up the nickname Tarzan Luchiano. He never feared anything or anybody. This meant boxing was the perfect sport for him. He began boxing at the Glass City boxing gym under coach Vargas. Kenny had dreams of traveling when he got older. His greatest accomplishment was riding a bicycle from Toledo all the way to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. He was the leader of the pack.

He was crazy about his sister Lakeya. Even though they were only a year apart, Kenny acted like he was Keya's daddy. He also loved his grandparents and he was right there to help with whatever they needed, with little complaint. He was also right there whenever they came from the bank, even though he didn't know. It was like he could smell the money, down to the penny. He would smile and walk away with a few dollars more than he started with. Kenny had a special group of friends who were affectionately referred to as the Fat Albert Crew by his mother because they ate everything in the house. They were always laughing, joking around and hanging on the porch. They had fun and got in trouble together. Elijha, Artis, Amarion, Lenard, Ben, Cameron, Dwight, Dmerious, Aaron, Emil and Demontae were like brothers to Kenny. They took care of each other and he loved them.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmothers Martha Jobe and Louise Croft; his uncles; Kenneth Wallace and Kenneth Jones; his cousins; Christian Veley, DeAsia Wallace and Brandy Douglas. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his parents, Charles C. Veley and Lakeyta L. Lockett. Grandparents, Linder (Herb) Martin, Ethel Edwards. His Godmother, Andrea Meadows and Godfather Vernan Woods; His sisters, Tilla Campbell, Lakeya Veley, Kharlie Veley and Ceterra Veley; His brothers; Charles McCuin, Khenan Alexander, De'quan Hill and bonus brother Elijha Jordan; two special cousins, Rashad and Dj, his girlfriend Meisha Marshall and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, June 18, 2018 beginning at 1:00p.m. with Funeral Services to follow at 3:00p.m. at Newcomer Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614 (419) 381-1900.
