Kathryn Marie Palmer, 79, departed this life while holding her daughter's hand on May 24, 2018. She was born in Carbondale, Illinois on February 1, 1939 to Molene and Frank Baker. As a child she loved the Word of God and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 12.
Kathryn graduated from Whitney High School in Toledo, OH in 1957 and matriculated from Maumee Valley Nursing School as an RN in 1961. She received a Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1973 and a PhD in vocational and technical education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, IL in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Palmer and son John Christopher and is survived by daughters Kimberly Ann and Dana Elaine Palmer, grandchildren Kristen Nicole, John Christopher Jr. and Christopher Stephen Palmer; two great-grandchildren Asia Renee and John Christopher III; one sister Barbara A. Baker; three brothers Frank A. Baker (Juanita), Raymond L. Baker (Denise), Alfred A. Baker (Beverly) and a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Kathryn brought much joy to many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial scholarship fund has been set up in her name. Please make checks to The University of Toledo Foundation and write in the memo line "Kathryn Marie Baker Palmer Scholarship Fund."
