Magdalene R. "Maggie" Johnson, age 92, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania with her family by her side. She was born on December 23, 1925 to Michael and Mary (Svetlak) Verkin in Clay Center, Ohio. Most important to Maggie was taking care of her family. She spent many years in Ft. Myers Beach, FL after her husband, Maury Johnson's, retired, enjoying the sun and the water. She also loved to fish and gamble!
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Melinda Johnson-Bush, Robert (Bonnie) Hain, Joanna (Jim) Burnor, Diana "Dee" (Tim) Janney and Jimmy (Michelle) Hain; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike), Ben (Bridget), Jim (Erin), Melissa (Mike), Jeff (Jenny), Todd (Carrie), Jake and Nicole; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and sisters, Ann Jozwiak and Margaret (Don) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maury Johnson; great-grandson, Zachary Burnor; siblings, Steven, Andy, Joseph, Michael, Frank, Helen, Mary and Mildred.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Her Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 204 Main St., Genoa, Ohio, with visitation a half-hour before her Funeral Mass with Rev. Tim Ferris officiating. Interment will follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
