"Mary H. (Borer) Rahn was born. She was married. She loved her children, She enjoyed her life. Now she's gone. Guess that's it."
To make sure that she got the SHORT obit she wanted, so that we wouldn't have to "waste our inheritance on news people already knew", she wrote the above memorial herself. But, true to family tradition, we were only "half listening" and would like to add a little more.
Mary was born to Alphonse Borer and Clara (Stanley) Borer on April 12, 1928. She married Harry, the love of her life, who preceded her to Heaven. She was also preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Baby Marcus and her sisters (Kate and Louise).
Left to cherish her memory and keep many good stories alive are her children: Judy Clifton; Mike Rahn (Patti), Linda Phillips (Jeff), Leslie Crippen (Chuck), Chris Rahn (Diane), and David Rahn (Tami), her 20 grandchldren, 24 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, her two brothers, Bill Borer and Dick Borer (Jane) and many friends.
The family will receive guests Friday, March 31, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) where a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. The family will greet guests Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church on Airport Hwy, NOT at the funeral home, followed by the Funeral Mass to celebrate her life at 10:00 am. The burial will be immediately after Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Grand Rapids, OH. Mary had a good sense of humor and will be laughing that she's being buried on April Fool's Day!
Mary asked that no one wear all black. She wanted brighter, happier colors. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Charles Church, or the charity of your choice. She will be greatly missed by all.
