Miriam E. (Hoel) Taylor, age 87, passed away December 26, 2016 of complications due to Alzheimer's. She was born May 10, 1929 in Toledo to Cletus and Florence (Turner) Hoel. She married Maurice "Pete" Taylor in 1951 and they lived in the Reynolds Corners area until Pete's death in 1991. She continued living in the same home until 2013 when she moved to Heritage Corners Assisted Living in Bowling Green, Ohio. Miriam was born and raised in East Toledo and attended Oakdale Elementary School before graduating from Whitney Vocational High School in 1947. Miriam was a Sunday School Teacher from the age of 13 until she was in her mid 70's. She worked as a secretary for the Toledo Public Schools (retiring in 1994) and various car dealerships.
Miriam is survived by her children, Denise L. Ringle, Kenneth (Penny) Taylor and Jeffrey (Merry) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Hatcher. In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Taylor and brother, Wilbur Hoel.
The family will receive guests, Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home officiated by grandson, Pastor Daniel Taylor. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Miriam's memory.
The family would also like to acknowledge the Heritage Corners Assisted Living Facility, particularly her closest friend and mischief-maker, Mona.
